Sun, Moon, and Stars
Journey across the night sky into the dawn with this arrangement of Moonlight Sonata, Morning Mood, and melodies from Holst's Jupiter, each representing different aspects of the celestial sphere.
- Pre-Show - roughly 1 minute of gentle, ambient introduction to set the stage
- Stars Above - fragments of Holst's Jupiter represent the stars of the night sky
- Moonlight - a powerful rendition of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, featuring a flute (or other woodwind) soloist
- Sunrise - A fast, modern arrangement of Grieg's familiar Morning Mood, leading to a climax where all themes come together
Growth Series
Originally commissioned by the Columbia City High School Band. Chris Douglas, director.
