About the show
Put the audience under your spell with this enchanting production featuring "I Put a Spell on You" by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Miklós Rózsa's "Spellbound Concerto", and "Die With a Smile" by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga.
- Enchantment and Curse - a duet introduces the soaring Love Theme from Rózsa's Spellbound Concerto, but this is soon undercut by the sinister Curse Theme, voiced by a theremin style sound on keyboard, electronic wind instrument, or an alternate wind soloist.
- I Put a Spell on You - "I Put a Spell on You" becomes the driving force of the opener, turning the curse into something bold and theatrical. Lean into the idea of being controlled and pulled off course.
- Heartbreak - A featured soloist carries the melody of "Die With a Smile", while rich harmonies open up into a powerful climax that feels like a resolute vow to break the curse.
- Breaking the Spell - the closer begins with a fierce, confrontational percussion feature that represents the struggle against the curse itself. Different sections trade lines as the curse theme and love theme battle for control. Gradually, the love theme from Spellbound Concerto returns in fuller, brighter form, overpowering the curse. The show ends in a triumphant restatement of the theme as the couple is reunited and the spell is shattered.
Alternate themes: Enchanted, Star-Crossed
