Prodigal - Custom Marching Productions

Prodigal

A compelling and emotional retelling of the story of the Prodigal Son. This show captures the essence of the classic parable, focusing on the themes of personal conflict, longing, and reconciliation. Features the well known hymn "Abide With Me" alongside original music.

  • Discord and Departure - after a brief introduction of the "Abide With Me" melody, this first movement captures the clash between the father and son. It's characterized by tense, discordant music that reflects the conflict and the son's eventual decision to leave.
  • Longing and Reflection - the focus shifts to the son's experience of homesickness and introspection. The music is more melancholic and contemplative, but ultimately shifts to a brighter tone, representing his resolve to reunite with his family.
  • Journey Home and Reunion - The final movement is a powerful portrayal of the son's journey back and the emotional reunion with his father. The music takes on a more hopeful and uplifting tone, symbolizing forgiveness and joy.
